Thank you parents, students, teachers, and counselors for making this year's pre-registration process go smoothly! We expected some minor glitches in using this new system, and most of them were resolved. Parents and students, you have a about a week to finish making any changes in Power School Class Registration before the window is closed. Verification sheets will be sent home for parents to sign and return.
If you want to request an override into a course that was not recommended by a teacher, you will need to print, complete, and submit an OVERRIDE REQUEST FORM with the verification sheet. Please note that students in an override class may not move down levels once the class begins.
Also, students requesting early dismissal next year must turn in a completed PETITION FOR LESS THAN A FULL DAY form by January 30th to Guidance. There are new guidelines in place for next year--be sure to print/turn in this form ASAP.
Representatives from SC State will be here during all lunches on Monday, January 30th in the cafe. Students wishing to get more information or apply are encouraged to meet with them.

Many thanks to SHS teachers, administrators, and counselors in helping students and parents with the pre-registration process! We are off to a great start! By now, most of our students have gone to the labs in English class to pre-register using Power School parent portal logins. Parents, students have papers to bring home for you; please sit down together to review your student's course selections. There will be two more parent information sessions next Wednesday 1/18 at 4:30 and 6:30 in the Auditorium--please plan on attending if you have questions regarding the registration process or courses.
We have some additional Computer Science courses being offered at SHS that did not appear as choices earlier this week--click here to see the list. You can also look at the complete Dorchester 2 Course Guide. Students should be making course selections based on the Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) that was updated this year in the IGP meeting (parents/counselors/students together). Students may contact their school counselor if another copy of the IGP is needed. Verification sheets will be printed and sent home in the beginning of February. Parents may make any additional changes and/or submit an override form at that time.

It is already time to sign up for next year’s classes! We are excited to offer pre-registration this year using the internet and our Power School website (parent portal). Everyone plays a part in the success of this process—what is your role?
Teachers are making recommendations now and entering them in Power School for students in English, Science, Social Studies, and Math. Teachers are discussing options of core and elective classes with students. Please contact your student’s teacher if you have questions about next year’s placement options.
